TIFF

TIFF is a way to save pictures on computers that keeps every single detail exactly as it was captured, without throwing anything away. Unlike formats that make files smaller by removing information, TIFF stores the complete, perfect version of your image – think of it as keeping the original painting instead of making a photocopy.

This means TIFF files are much larger than other picture formats, sometimes ten or twenty times bigger than a JPEG of the same photo. It’s like the difference between keeping every single item in that cluttered room versus packing away only the essentials. Because nothing gets lost or changed, photographers and graphic designers love TIFF when they need the absolute best quality for printing or professional work.

TIFF files are perfect when you’re planning to edit photos heavily, print large posters, or create artwork where every pixel matters. Since no quality is lost, you can make changes over and over without the image getting worse each time. However, these files are so large that they’re not practical for everyday use like sharing photos online or storing lots of pictures on your phone.

Most professional photo editing software can work with TIFF files, though they’re less common than JPEG for regular users. Think of TIFF as the premium option – bigger, more expensive in terms of storage space, but with perfect quality preserved.
